Deville base 2001.

The car was worked on my mechanics. Where does the hose connect from? I'm a stranger to fuel systems and I need baby talk on this. What would be some observable symptoms of a missing vacuum hose? Thanks..

One side goes to the throttle body the other side goes to the regulator, without it the regulator cannot adjust the fuel pressure. you can replace it with a piece of 1/8" vacuum hose available at any parts store. If your mechanic is that careless you should find someone else.

Here's your vacuum diagram.

As posted, use a single piece of correct sized vacuum hose (dirt cheap) from any parts shop. Ask the counter people - they'll fix it for you. Leave the engine beauty cover at home.

Thanks. I found it. It had broken off. Is it okay if I just wrap it around the FPR stem with a broken off end?

Replace the entire pipe - and rubber connectors - with a single length of common vacuum hose from any parts store. Those dinky plastic pipes break with great regularity - pretty old, now.

If you don't replace the pipe/hose you'll have a pretty significant vacuum leak at the throttlebody fitting = codes, rotten gas mileage, and poor engine performance.

Sub's right, replace with rubber. You'll never get a seal using your method. No offense.
Those plastic vacuum lines will break just LOOKING at them.
Age and heat have done them in.

This line had been broken for a long time (months) and I've never had any codes or poor engine performance.
Will purchase the rubber stuff. Thanks.

If the car is a city people mover and never used for highway or hard driving you might not notice the fuel pressure differences. My guess is that your gas mileage will improve along with other small improvements.

That vacuum line is absolutely necessary for correct fuel pressure control to the fuel injectors under all operating conditions.
